The Biomedical Engineering Department at University of Utah prepares graduates to be leaders in the integration of engineering, biology and medicine to detect and treat human disease and disability. The Department of Biomedical Engineering offers degree programs which are consistently ranked amongst the highest in the US. The graduate program draws its graduate faculty from over 30 departments/organizations across 4 colleges, representing both the health science campus and the lower campus.
Research
A rich interdisciplinary department comprising science, engineering and medicine. We develop technologies in synthetic biology, medical imaging, biomaterials, biomechanics, drug delivery, neural interfaces, computational biomedical engineering, tissue engineering and other specialty areas.
Health & Medicine
The University of Utah Biomedical Engineering Department has offices and laboratories located on the Health Sciences Campus along with the University Hospital, Huntsman Cancer Institute, Primary Children’s Hospital, Orthopedic Specialty Hospital, the School of Medicine and the College of Pharmacy.
