Tied for 7th Best Faculty H-Index in the Nation!
Faculty Publication Impact Ranks in the Top 10, Nationwide.
The University of Utah’s Department of Bioengineering’s median Google Scholar h-Index for tenured/tenure-track faculty benchmarked against US News and World Report peers tied for 7th in the nation. In 2005 Jorge E. Hirsch, Dept. of Physics, University of California San Diego, proposed "the index h", which gives an estimate of the importance, significance, and broad impact of a scientist’s cumulative research contributions. While there is much debate about the manner in which it is implemented, it is widely regarded as a significant measure of the impact of a faculty member’s work.
