The MS-MBA Dual Degree Program enables you to earn both a two-year Master of Business degree and a one-year Master of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering in as little as two years.

Application Process – One program, Three applications, FIVE possible outcomes

Minimum Requirements

  • Four year Technical Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution
  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Standardized Test*

Applicants apply to and are evaluated by the Biomedical Engineering Department and the full-time MBA admission committees separately, and then jointly. As a result, a successful applicant may be accepted to one but not the other program, accepted by both programs giving them the option to do either program as a stand alone or both in the dual program, In very limited cases a student may also be admitted to only the dual degree program. Applicants with work experience (including internships) will be given admission preference in admission in the MBA and dual degree programs. Applicants should refer to

Biomedical Engineering Department M.S. page

and

FAQ

Can the program be done part-time?
The present intent to have students completely immersed for up to two years in the interplay of engineering and business so admission is initially limited to students who can devote themselves full-time to the program. As the program matures there may be accommodations made for working professionals. Certificate programs are being considered as an alternative to formal degree programs.

How long does it take?
The program can be completed in 21-24 months of full-time study. Students will be expected to take coursework during the summer. Actual time to complete will depend on the course/workload and availability of classes.

I already have a graduate business or engineering degree. Can I just take the business or engineering hours to get the other degree?
No. The program was conceived and approved as an integrated educational experience.

Are assistantships/scholarships available?
Yes. All second year students will be encouraged to work with entities on campus in approved “internship” programs to gain additional experience and to provide their tuition support.

During the program can I decide to just get one of the degrees?
Yes, but one must satisfy all requirements of the chosen degree program as if it were taken as a stand alone. That is, not all credits taken may apply to the stand alone degree program. Students completing the dual degree program must satisfy all business and engineering program requirements before either degree will be awarded.
