BME’s Dr. Robby Bowles and his graduate students attended the annual Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) meeting in Phoenix, Arizona February 7-11, 2025. Bowles PhD students, Hunter Levis and Christian Lewis won the Podium and Poster Presentation awards, respectively, in the conference’s Spine section.

Levis’s podium presentation was entitled “Multiplex CRISPRa Upregulation of Novel Gene, ZNF865, Enhances Cell Infiltration, Cartilage Deposition and Mechanical Properties of Human-sized Engineered Discs”, while Christian Lewis’s poster presentation was entitled “CRISPRa Regulation of ZNF865 in Human Intervertebral Discs: Molecular Insights and Therapeutic Potential.”

The ORS is a non-profit organization founded over 70 years ago with the purpose of utilizing its translational and scientific research to treat patients with musculoskeletal disorders. It is the only international research society focused on orthopaedics and musculoskeletal care. The ORS has 3,200 members worldwide and strives to improve the health and care of musculoskeletal patients through innovative and respectable research and discovery.
