Congratulations to this year’s BME and PCoE’s Outstanding Dissertation Award winner Johnathan Le!
Recent former Biomedical Engineering Ph.D. student Johnathan Le worked under Prof. Ganesh Adluru, Associate Professor of Radiology-UCAIR and BME adjunct faculty. Johnathan made impactful strides in his doctoral cardiovascular engineering research focused on improving the accuracy of MRI resolution as a powerful, noninvasive, and ionizing radiation-free tool for assessing various cardiomyopathies. His work has resulted in three first-authored journal publications, one shared first-authored publication, and one second-authored publication in premier MRI journals. Johnathan was recognized for his influence to the medical imaging field with the second-best presentation award at the 2023 annual Utah Center for Advanced Imaging Research (UCAIR) symposium. He has contributed to 10 conference proceedings, 7 of which were first authored and 3 were second-authored at prestigious international conferences.
Johnathan Le’s research has been instrumental to expanding the current critical limitations of MRI imaging and his resourcefulness and commitment to this cause is one of the many reasons he has been nominated for this award. His doctoral advisor, Dr. Ganesh Adluru, spoke highly of Le’s accomplishments saying, “John’s dedication and persevering pursuit of excellence have led to his innovative research contributions. It is no surprise that his remarkable work has earned him a well-deserved Outstanding Dissertation Award.“ Johnathan’s PhD dissertation moved on to the annual Price College of Engineering competition for the College Dissertation Award and was one of two candidates selected to move onto the University level for consideration.
